Reprogram Existing Keypads

The existing Meals Plus Desktop input devices can be used with Meals Plus Web by reprogramming them into the key presses so that Meals Plus Web can determine which keypad is which. They also have to be reprogrammed to be in USB mode since websites cannot require special drivers to run.

Step One—Open Website

Navigate to https://store.genovation.com/905.html and download MiniTermProSetup. When installing, be sure to do the ‘Normal Install’ as it has the tools you will need such as 9xxLoad.

Step Two—Reset Keypad

Once the software is installed, users should reset the keypad to the factory settings just to be certain no other settings are interfering with the programming.

To reset a keypad to factory settings, even if users have programmed the ROM, users should hold down any two buttons on the keypad and continue holding them down while plugging in the keypad. The keypad will beep and a menu display:

  • 1 to put in Serial mode, or 2 to put in USB mode. There is an undocumented mode that will even forcefully clear the ROM. Users should push 9 even though this is not one of the options on the Menu. The keypad will reboot and be back to factory settings.

NOTE: In the unlikely event that the above double button press reset does not work because of old firmware, you will need to reprogram the keypad with Default905.rom. Then retry the manual reset.

Step Three—Setup COM Port and Confirm Keypad is Detected

  • Click on the Mini Term Logo in the taskbar and select Configure Mini Terms.
    • It should detect a keypad, and users should set a COM port.
  • Click Finished to close the screen.

Step Four—Download ROM Files

Download these .ROM files to the user’s computer.

Right_LINQ_905_v100.rom

Next, open 9xxLoad by clicking on the Mini Term Logo in the taskbar. Users should see this screen once it loads.

  • Select Open File from the top menu. Users are going to be selecting the unzipped .ROM files from above. Be sure to select .ROM files from the dropdown at the bottom right.
  • Once the file is loaded, click Download to program the file to the keypad. It will program the keypad and then reboot. The keypad is now ready to use.
